GeForce G310 512MB and WoW

Hi i am looking at buying a new PC to run WoW properly as i am sick of my laptop's poor gaming performance.

My question is this: Will a new computer with these specs run WoW on decent settings?

AMD Athlon™ II X3 435(2.9GHz,1.5MB)
Nvidia ® GeForce G310 512MB graphics card
4096MB Dual Channel DDR3 [4x1024] Memory

More about geforce g310 512mb
  1. you have more then enough RAM and CPU power

the G310 is used mostly for video playback and basic office use, gaming would be rather frustrating with it

can you link the PC and monitor you are looking at?
  2. Hello and welcome to the forums :)
As ct1615 said, your CPU and RAM is sufficient, but GT 310 is a low-end card for gaming, consider something like HD 5750/5770 (Depending on your resolution)
  3. Hi and thanks =].

The pc would be an Inspiron 570 with a Dell IN2010N 20” Widescreen Consumer Flat Panel Monitor - UK (a quick google search says this is 1600 x 900 resolution).
    So altogether:
    AMD Athlon™ II X3 435(2.9GHz,1.5MB)
    Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit - English
Dell IN2010N 20” Widescreen Consumer Flat Panel Monitor - UK
    Nvidia ® GeForce G310 512MB graphics card
    4096MB Dual Channel DDR3 [4x1024] Memory
    500GB (7200rpm) SATA Hard Drive
  4. Then go for a 5770 if you can
  5. it comes with a 300w PSU, if you want to upgrade it then the ATI 5770 is a good choice. Otherwise look at the 9800GT Eco card or ATI 5670.
  6. Mmmm, i don't trust myself with things like internal components so it would be a whole lot easier if i could get it already in a tower.

On that note, Maziar, what do you think of a setup like this:

    AMD Phenom™ II X4 820 (2.8GHz, 6MB Cache)
    Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit - English
    DELL™ 20”W HD MONITOR ST2010 - BLACK - UK
    6144MB Dual Channel DDR3 [2x2048 + 2x1024] Memory
    1TB (7200rpm) SATA Hard Drive
    ATI Radeon™ HD 5450 1GB DDR3 graphics

Because i'm not fussed with achieving Ultra levels of graphics, just a nice smooth fps in WoW with good settings and a good pc for everything else like MSN web browsing etc.

P.S. Sorry if you're having to read everything twice ct1615, in my hunt for more intelligent opinions than my own i've managed to turn two different threads rather similar
  7. you need to close this thread and just go with the on on the CPU forum
  8. There is no need to make 2 threads with one subject in 2 different sections, follow your thread here
