The question I pose for you is, do you think it is worth returning the prior, paying the restocking fee, shipping, and 10 extra dollars for the cas 8? Or do you think it's not worth the hassle... I'm kinda leaning towards its not worth it.

....for me?
Since I build systems anyway, I would just keep it; I'll use it sometime I know.
Otherwise I would sell the unopened, new RAM on Ebay, where it would detch me only a little less than I paid for it.
