Broadcom 802 11g connection setup

have a gateway mx6438, cannot connect with several wireless networks available,
have exausted all my other options and have tried so many dont know if p/c will ever work again
have daughters laptop alongside to try anything
any suggestions and assistance would be greatly appreciated

Do the networks have wireless security enabled ? Do you have the passphrase(s) ?

it is in the configuration, un secure networks
says windows cannot configure this wireless connection

Have you tried connecting computer to router with an ethernet cable.

If that works have a look at the literature which came with the router for how to enter the router's setup screens and copy or replace the security passphrase.

While in their, make sure broadcast SSID is enabled and that Access List by MAC ID filtering is disabled.
