How do I set master / slave for SATA and IDE drives?

I installed a new SATA drive and found that when using my word processor from that drive I can't cut and paste or copy and paste. The word processor is Microsoft Word 2003 version.

More about master slave sata drives
  1. if your asking to switch the drive's settings (as in slave/master) on the drive it self near the back ther sould be an arangment of prongs use a jumper (small little plastic thing) to put it in the correct positions.
  2. Has nothing to do with Master/Slave. SATA doesn't utilize that concept anyway.
