How do I set master / slave for SATA and IDE drives?

I installed a new SATA drive and found that when using my word processor from that drive I can't cut and paste or copy and paste. The word processor is Microsoft Word 2003 version.

if your asking to switch the drive's settings (as in slave/master) on the drive it self near the back ther sould be an arangment of prongs use a jumper (small little plastic thing) to put it in the correct positions.

Has nothing to do with Master/Slave. SATA doesn't utilize that concept anyway.
