Im 14 and i just built this computer in the past week. I would like your opinions on what you think about it.

I have a:

CPU: AMD x64 x2 2.50Ghz cpu
Mother board: GA-MA69G-S3H AM2 socket- up to 16 gigs of ram
RAM: 4x1gb G.Skill RAM
HDD: SATA western digital 250gb hdd
PSU: 700w OCZ sealthXstream
OS: 32 bit windows XP (i know 32 bit windows only allows upto 3.25gb of RAM :p  )

I know these better but this is what ive got

I dont know much about GPU's, but i want to be able to play games like GTA IV maybe ARMA II and COD. Any suggestions on what GPU i should get or look for. Is my system even capable of running these games? I only want to spend around $100-150 on a GPU. is windows XP the best OS for gaming or does it matter?

Thanks

what is your budget? and no, not a terribly great build, but not terrible. and in that price range, best gpu would be the 5770:

and windows xp is a bit old, its ok for gaming, but no better than windows 7. the os doesnt make too big of a difference, but w7 uses the least amount of RAM, followed by xp in most occasions.

well I was planing on getting an i5 CPU and Planed on spending $215 on a CPU and mobo. But then this guy responded to my ad on creigslist and offered me the gigabye board, CPU, and ram for 75$ so I took it. Then I got the hdd and sata cable for 30$ and the psu for 50$. so I just save up and then shop for what I can get. But I think it's reasonable to spend about 150$ on a gpu. Do u think my system can run gta IV of o get the 5770?

Thanks

yes, it can, your system isnt bad, its just not normal. like, in normal times, i would have said get a 2x2 gig ram set, a 500 gig f3 hdd, and athlon 2 x3 440, and am3 board. you have an older cpu, non upgradable board, 4x1 kit, and just some other wierd things. but it isnt that bad, its still 4 gigs and a 2.5 GHz dual core. the 5770 should fit fairly nicely in there.

Yeah I see what you mean, but could I put an am2+ CPU on my board? I know there not the same but would it work?

yes will work, but it will take a performance hit. am2 boards have a hyper transport @ 2 GHz, am2+ at 3.6 GHz, and am3 @ 4 GHz. so you may see a small performance drop, but only really if you are using a dual video card setup.
