I'm looking to buy a 30" monitor with a native resolution of 2550x1600 and I want to power it with a 5850. My question is will I see a performance loss if the in game resolution is lets say 1440x900, because the native resolution is so high? Or will that fact not even matter? I'm having doubts because there are so many more pixels than a 19" monitor that my video card will strain to push it all.

Solution
If the game only supports 1440x900 res, IMO, it won't matter.

You will get a performance drop because you are running more pixels.

You can compensate by turning down AA/AF/Post processing options because at that res, you probably won't see a difference.

Once you use this res, you won't look back.

Good luck.
