A8M2N-LA replacement

hi
we have the hp pavilion a1540n and it has died on us
the power comes on & the fan works but no display on the monitor

we r guessing the motherboard isnt working anymore

we r thinking of trying to replace the motherboard but have no idea on how to find out what will b compatible
one option is getting the identical piece from HP or ebay but since we arent sure that's the only problem want to find out if there's an alternative if possible from FRY's where we can return the motherboard in case it doesnt work out

any ideas will b really appreciated

939 boards are rare now; check ebay or your local craigslist. You may have to upgrade the board/cpu/ram.
