Can a mobo be blown form a over powerful psu(PLEASE ANSWER)

I am wanting to get a 500w power supply, but my question is: Can the mobo be blown from this psu. I have read all over other places and from what i have collected, it seems that no matter how powerful the psu is, it can not blow it because it only takes what is necessary. Is this true or not.
Please answer correctly as i don't want to do just what the title says.
