Hi,

I have a dell dimension 9200 and have just ordered a GTX 260 graphics card, now I need to update my PSU and was wondering if the corsiar VX 550 will fit my case??

Before I get grilled, yes I know my CPU is gunna bottle neck my Gtx 260 but until i can buy a new tower and mobo with a beautiful i7 I have to stick with the piece of rubbish I have atm.

Current specs are

core 2 duo E6700 2.66Ghz
windows 7 (64 bit)
6GB RAM
500Gb HDD

One more thing actually, while i now wait for my new PSU to arrive,

Can I cheat for a few days and attach two molex 4 pin splitters to my PSU so that i can then connect up the 2x4 pin molex to 6pins splitter to power up the card?

If that makes any sense. The PSU atm is is an ATX 500 - 500w.

Cheers

So you've already upgraded from the stock 375w ?

Telling us that it's an ATX 500 doesn't give us much, it could be a POS that's less powerful than the stock psu. What's the 12v amperage rating ?

Yes, wel I didnt upgrade it myelf, i had a few problems with my pc dying a few months back, and the pc shop put a new psu in as the 375w dell psu died on me.
plus the MBR was corrupt, cudnt fix it, etc etc.

So thats what in it at the moment, the 12v amperage is 22,so im guessing thats far too low right??

Only a few days to wait for the corsair, but i just want to start playing!!

If it's a 500w single rail psu with only 22a @ 12v it's far to low, and a definite POS.
Do you know the make and model ? Can you take a look at the label and provide the specs ?

The only info on the lasbel is

Switching mode power supply

then there is a little logo that says 'Ro HS'

And then there s table of power specs thats it.

I think to be safe im jst going to wait for the new PSU to arrive
