High all recently bought a Sapphire HD 5770 to upgrade from duel x1950's. <- x2 and from what i can gather the CPU is bottle necking the GPU. I currently have a Intel core 2 duo E6600. I've tried over clocking and it's helped marginally. But not enough to make a notable difference.
The mother details are on thread and the processor is a socket 775 LGA.
I've not got a PHD in pc's so any good advice is severely welcome thanks alot and I wait baited breathe.

It can take an Intel Core 2 Extreme (quad-core processor).

One of the options, when that PC was being marketed, was an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 Factory Overclocked to 3.2Ghz.

Yes. There are/were members in the Dell forum whom have upgraded their XPS 710 to use a QX6800.
