249APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Late August

BUDGET RANGE: Preferrably under $600. With everything included below, around 850.

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, surfing, homework, itunes

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Monitor, OS, speakers. (They aren't required but if there are good cheap ones I'll pick those up, or if they are in a combo)

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg.com

PARTS PREFERENCES: None really, if you can persuade me. no x2 or x3 processors.

OVERCLOCKING: Not really. If the game calls for it I suppose.

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Again, not really.

MONITOR RESOLUTION: As high as possible while keeping the price down?

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I also need a monitor, but if there isn't anything that great for 150 max then I will get one elsewhere.

These look good to me so far, but if you have anything better and cheaper let me know. Or if something is overill.

I didn't see that ram, thanks.
Couldn't I just switch to an athlon ii x4? They have 2.9 pricing at 100.
The 5830 looks to be pretty fast, and for 90 less it looks like a good deal.

You could, but gaming-wise the athlon x3 wont perform much differently then the athlon x4. If you want to spend the extra money, go for it. You also get an extra core

Well at the end of the build if that $25 would make a difference, then I'll drop it down to the tri core, but I would really like the quad.
I also really like the case you chose. It looks great, and I am definitely a fan person.

I love that case and its got free shipping right now so you have to love it :p  If you want the quad then go for it. Remember there is also a chance to unlock the fourth core of the tri core. I got the 440 and unlocked the fourth core. If you want more fans, its got some spaces to put more in. I reccomend the silenx fans. There kindve expensive but you get what you pay for

I've read that it depends on what mobo you have determines if you can unlock the fourth core. Also some quad cores had a bad core, so they shut it off. So even if I had the right mobo, it could still be a bad core.

That case also has a combo, and for 10 bucks that looks like a pretty cook headset. I would probably just not use the mic and plug it into my ipod. =D
