Phenom 965 better in games than the 1055T Tags: CPUs Games Phenom Last response: September 5, 2010 2:56 AM in CPUs Share mrsav25 September 4, 2010 11:48:27 PM PC Format have an interesting feature on the latest and greatest CPUs this month. Their article considers all users, not just gamers. They ran a wide range of benchmarking tests to see what came out on top. Now...although they recommend the Phenom X6 1055T...their tests show that the X4 965 performs better for gamers. Does this sound right? Ok so 6 cores vs 4 sounds better...but it seems it's not all about cores and size... Thoughts? Did they cover overclocking at all? That can swing things around if both CPUs end up running @ ~3.8Ghz. | Report abuse mrsav25 September 4, 2010 11:59:03 PM Yep Overclocking performance: 1055T = 3.65 965 = 4.1 Also DX10 Performance: 1055T = 44 965 = 49 Similar trends throughout | Report abuse rolli59 CPUs Master September 5, 2010 12:04:29 AM The X6 is going to do better at heavy multitasking though. | Report abuse Related ressources AMD Phenom II X6 1055T or X4 965 BE - Forum Dev box: Phenom II x4 965 vs i5 750 vs Phenom II x6 1055t - Forum AMD - Phenom X6 1055T OC VS Phenom x4 965 BE - Forum Phemon ii x6 1055t or phenom ii x4 965 - Forum Phenom II X6 1055T vs Phenom II X4 965 purchase - Forum Ask the community Publish mrsav25 September 5, 2010 12:08:24 AM Hmm cant decide what to do here...there's not a lot in the price Do I get the 965 for the touch extra gaming grunt, or go for the 1055T to future proof and get the extra multi tasking ability...which I don't need a lot of? I kinda wish there was a bigger difference in the price to make the decision for me. | Report abuse rolli59 CPUs Master September 5, 2010 12:13:28 AM If gaming is the main goal go with the 965 or even 955 | Report abuse mrsav25 September 5, 2010 12:17:10 AM Yeah been reading into the 955/965 THING Seems like it used to be a better choice to go for the 955 and overclock it to a 965. But now they've brought out the 125W 965s, it seems to be better to go straight for the 965. | Report abuse rolli59 CPUs Master September 5, 2010 2:56:51 AM mrsav25 said:Yeah been reading into the 955/965 THING Seems like it used to be a better choice to go for the 955 and overclock it to a 965. Changes are that they are better binned and will overclock higher as well. | Report abuse Register or log in to remove Ask the community Publish Tom's Hardware>Forum>CPUs>Phenom 965 better in games than the 1055T> Related ressources: ForumPhenom II X6 1055T vs Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Forum965 be vs 1055t in gaming ForumPC Build: i5 750 vs x6 1055T vs x4 965 (black) ForumThuban 1055t vs 965 BE Forum1055T or 965 BE?
