here is my rig so far.

MB MSI P55-GD65 1156 RT

OCZ Special Ops Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ700MXSP

I'm going to buy two GTX 460's 1GB
I'm just not sure which CPU to get. I'd like to go for the 650, since it is dual core and it has a faster clock speed than the 760 and it seems that I could get a bit more out of the OC with that chip. I'm not concerned about hyperthreading, or "future proofing" and most games aren't optimized for four cores.

So what do you think. Also if you could include references to articles to support your choice, that would be appreciate.

go 760 for sure. u will want quad in a year or so, software improves these days to catch up on multi-core cpus.

and i'm not sure 700W psu will be enough for 460 sli. maybe 850 w ?

they have been saying software will incorporate four cpus ( esp. games) for two years now) from what I can tell, its not gonna happen. Future proofing is just a word the manufacturers throw out to get people to buy stuff they don't need. Like Sata 3.

for gaming purposes two cores is fine (the 4 core bandwagon has been around for 4 years) and the i5-650 is a very capable gaming CPU. The i5-750 or 760 is the better gaming CPU though so if you have the money, may as well get that.

yes i5 760 is QUAD CORE but............i5 650 is 32nm!!!32nm=more transistors=more speed.however i would go for i5 760 because this little difference is not notice in games and you get 2 extra cores
