Anyone know if this company is good? I've been wanting an XFX 5770, but for $6 the Power Color Brand is overclocked to 875mhz (As opposed to the stock 850mhz), and it comes with Dirt 2! (I love that game)
What should I do?
It has pretty good reviews on newegg, only 13 out of 80 people gave it an under 3 egg review, the rest are 4 or 5 eggs.
For stock graphics card, retail names don't matter. They just put their name there because their business partners with that company. That's a pretty good deal considering Dirt 2 is $30 MSRP, and they overclock it for you.
The Power color does make a lot of sense given the free game and all.
If it was a straight card Vs card I would say XFX but that's not because the power color is bad or anything.
The added game swings it for me.
Well, that is true, but I know that the powercolor one also has a copper base, but no heat pipes, a lot like xfx's blower style cooler. (The ones that look like 5970s)
To be quite honest I dont believe in overclocking myself, because I dont like making things any hotter than they need to by, This in turn makes the component(s) last longer... If its a factory overclock on the other hand I dont mind it.
The most I will do is unlock the 2 dormant cores of my phenom II 555 be (3.2ghz)
Please come back and tell us your experiences with this model.
It is consistently the lowest price on newegg, usa, so alot of people wonder , does it perform the same as model XXXXX. It should. As long as board components meet ATI's reference design in terms of power delivery etc. Powercolor makes the whole 5 series lineup , even eyefinity 6.
