Hi,

I have asus p5kc mbo and I'm wondering is black pci-x slot is working only in 4x mode on this mbo? If it works only 4x mode how it will affect performance of single hd 6950. I' bought asus EAH6950 2 GB DCII and this graphic card needs 3 slots. Because I have to additional pci cards I want to connect this new graphic card into black slot and leave free blue pci-x slot and 2 pci slots between thees pci-x slots so I can connect thees additional cards.

Putting the EAH6950 in the black slot will make it run either at 4x, or even only 1x depending on how many PCI lanes the other slots are using.
It must go in the blue slot for full 16x speed. There simply is not enough bandwidth otherwise.
I think your best solution, is to replace one of those PCI cards - the least expensive one - with a card using the smaller PCIex1 interface. That will give your GPU enough space.

The video card must go in the blue slot if you want full speed. The black one will be empty.
