hi i just need to know if inegrated audio chips affect cpu performance because my mate told me it does and i just need to check

it does - all those chores a dedicated card would do is done with cpu cycles

Onboard soundchips have gotten a lot better over the last few years and with a good CPU I don't think most people (or apps) would notice whether it was a dedicated card or not.

I'll agree with mouse on this. Nowadays its a very small problem for most. I doubt you could notice the real world difference at all really.
