Hp laptop wifi problems

Hello,
I have a hp laptop, with XP.
I tried to hook-up with another computer withen network range. It didn't work, so I tried to return to my original SSID and it won't connect. I redid the original router SSID, to no avail. I'm doing something wrong and its probably something simple

You need to edit the settings in Windows Wireless Connection to restore the previous connection. This may involve filling in the wireless security password again.

If you've forgotten that, you'll need to connect to the router with an ethernet cable and get into the router setup screens. Suggest you look at the literature which came with the router.
