My Canon G2 has just deveoped a problem with the LCD screen. When swiveling
the screen it turns off in certain positions -- seems like a loose
connection -- anyone else had this experience? What is your experience with
Canon repairs -- especially a problem this close to the holidays and 2
grandkids.

They won't be able to help with the grandkids, thats for sure.
You won't get it back before Christmas, if that is what you mean. The last
time I sent in my G2 to be worked on, it took about 3 weeks to get it back.
However, the great thing is, you don't need the LCD screen to take photos
and most of the shot information is on the other little lcd "screen" on top
of the camera. Just look through the viewfinder the old fashioned way and
refresh your knowledge of all the symbols on top by going through the manual
again to make sure you don't forget and leave something set incorrectly.
Then just use it without the LCD screen and send it to be serviced after you
don't need it right away.

Well that's no fun! My G2 hasn't exhibited this (yet anyway) if
you're hunting for datapoints good and bad.
I sent a flash in for repair once. You'll be lucky to have it back
for Valentines day.
