Hi all, just sold my gtx 275's on ebay and now combined with the cash I already had I have $500 to spend on gpu upgrades.

I have two choices: go with AMD and buy a radeon 5870 for $400 plus the $70-100 for the active display port adapter (to use with eyefinity) OR buy a GTX 480 and play my games on a single screen.

What I want to know before I drop this cash is whether or not triple screen gaming is worth it in the end or if its just a sort of gimmick that gets old fast? I mainly play WoW and source engine based shooters such as tf2, l4d, and hl2.

Also, what kind of performance can I expect with these kinds of games and a single 5870 @ 5040x1050?

5870 would max those games out NO PROBLEM. Eyefinity is amazing but it's also very expensive. If you can afford it, then yes definitely get the 5870 (it comes with eyefinity already so all you need is a display port. IMO if you're going single screen don't get the 480 it runs very hot, instead get 2 5850s or 1 5870.
