Transferring data from internal to external hard drive

Is it a good idea to transfer all files from the C drive to an external hard drive and then deleting them all from the C drive?

  1. I don't know that you should copy and delete "all files" but you can copy and delete data files. However, I would recommend backing up the C: drive before deleting the files. I like to err on the side of caution and make sure my important files are backed up before copying them to an external drive.
