I have built many systems but it has been a while and I am out of touch.

I am in need of guidance.

I have about $600 to use on a MB and Processor and want the best I can get.

What is the best MOBO / Processor combination to build for a gamer?

currently I would recommend the i5 2500k processor with an Asus p8p67 deluxe motherboard, or WS revolution motherboard.. That will definitely give you an edge... a 2500k in an "j" board is nonsensical considering you can't overclock the "k" chips..so, either an i52400 would do, or you would need to get a p67 board which is what i suggest...

check it out..these are great boards for the price and performance..not to mention, longevity..

Check out the reviews for this board..it's fantastic

I've played around with various p67 boards..this is my favourite

People, he said he want's the BEST cpu and mobo for $600.

That would not be a i5-2500K, it would be a i7-2600K and P67. You could do both of those for less than $500. The mobo you get depends on whether you want xfire or sli.

The i7 is not going to be faster at gaming than the i5, but it'll be a lot faster at a lot of other things and MUCH more future proof with it's 4 extra virtual cores (HT)

Yeah...best doesn't necessarily mean the most expensive..OP if you actually want the best for that price.. get 1 of the 3 below

1.) Gigabyte P67 UD7 B3 + i72600k
2.) Maximus IV Extreme + i5 2500k
3) P8P67 WS Revolution + i72600k

But, remember..this is a gaming build where the most moniesss should be spent on the graphic card (s)...(duurrhhhh)
