Vista OEM + Win7 Upgrade = Win7 Retail

I upgraded an OEM copy of Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional, using an upgrade copy that I purchased from http://www.microsoft.com/uk/education/studentoffer/

According to the site, this upgrade copy is exactly the same as a Windows 7 Upgrade copy available from a store. Does this mean that I now have a Retail copy of Windows 7? I can not find an oembios.bin, and the product ID, on system properties, does not have OEM in it, unlike the copy of Vista.

  1. All "upgrades" are clasified as retail and have the same support as the full version.
An upgrade version requires you to own a previous full qualifying OS.
