Installed HD / system gives old space reading, not the 1T??!!

I put in a 1T HD on my HP laptop. Everything works (cloned it) using Windows 7, if that helps. Now, when I go to "computer" it still reads that I only have 250 space and it's almost used up!! It's still in the red and everything else is working just fine... HELP!! (p.s. I know nothing about computers, so use "chick" directions for your answer, please...LOL)

When you cloned the original drive, you also cloned its partition size.

If you go into Disk Management, you will probably see the remaining 750GB as unallocated space. If so, then create an additional partition and format it.
