Monitor turns off randomly?

Hello, I bough a new computer recently. I have a Samsung Syncmaster B2430H monitor that worked fine connected to my laptop (previous pc). I now have a desktop PC, but during random intervals my monitor switches off while I'm working on it?

I'm not sure why? I think it may be my screen card on my new computer (I have a Radeon HD5770)?

P.s. I used a VGA connection on the laptop, but now make use of the DVI connetcion.

Can anyone please tell me what they think might be causing this?

Have you checked the cable that is hooked to the back of the monitor?
Are you using it t for actual work or for Video when it shuts off?

Update your video drivers or something.

I had a similar problem with my Samsung T240. I initially thought it was the display but it stopped doing it when I updated drivers.

Wel it happens during random tasks. Like when I play games, but not even a really graphics intensive game like Warcraft II, or say the last time it happened I was reading a pdf file?

The cable I'm using is a DVI cable that came with the monitor. I've disconnected and reconnected it a few times hoping to fix the problem.

LOL! I'm even waiting for a reply from samsung support. Oh and I forgot to mention the display is only 2 months old....?
