After experiencing no prior problems I had started experiencing black lines across my monitor in certain aps (Outlook, some very white web pages) and then a few days ago it started blacking out a bit and then longer when I stress the GPU with multiple windows.
I had recently updated the GPU driver from the ATI site but hadn't uninstalled the first one. Things continued to get worse so I reverted back to the older driver, then used Windows to retrieve the updated driver. This solved some of the problems with the lines but now the blackouts are lasting longer.
This does not seem to be related to the "black screen at boot" problem.
Is there a chance that I fried the board when the driver was confused?

-Ati HD 3650 This is not a gaming machine but the GPU had been used for games at one time and may have been overclocked at that time.
