HDMI to vga cable for my XFX 5770?

HI Guys, does anyone have the knowledge to tell me if i could hook my XFX 5770 to my LG monitor using a HDMi to VGA cable, i aint bothered about it being a HD picture, i just want a picture so i can make use of my new video card. Or would i have to use a DVI to VGA cable? Or would i be better buying a HDMI monitor

DVI to VGA adapter is what you'd use. There is a really good chance you have a DVI-VGA adapter in your XFX 5770 accessory pack.
In this picture it's the white dongle between the 4pin molex to 6 pin PCI-e power adapter and the video card.
