I was just curious, why doesn't AMD or Intel periodically release improved versions of thier CPU drivers? Like with ATI and Nvidia? Being competitive companies it seems like a no brainer to do if it actually improved performance. So I guess my question is, what is the difference between the proccesing done for video and the Logical processing done on a CPU in regards to being able to improve their respective drivers?

I think that is up to the operating system (as it is such a core aspect of the system), which is why you never see "CPU drivers" unless it is to fix an incompatibility due to tech released after the OS (such as with the Athlon X2s and WinXP).
