I'm looking to get a new rig with 12gb of ram running at 1600mhz or above. It seems that running 12+Gb at high speed is an issue for many motherboards. Does anyone have any suggestions about motherboard and memory configurations running with those specs? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I rarely see a problem on X58 with 1600 MHz Corsair Dominator 3X4GB kits, and for the P67 ditto with the 4X4GB Ripjaws X @ 1.5v. Other MOBO's like P55 or AM3 you'll need to very compatibility.

Where some X58's have a problem is 2000 MHz 3X4GB.

Q - What MOBO?
Q - What CPU?

Using DDR3-1600, I've not seen any problems using the Better Ram (ie not the cheapest you can find.

Currently running 16 gigs of Ripjaw DDR3 1600 CL7, at 1.60 volts. This is on a P55-UM4P gigabyte board. Should be less of a problem on the higher end New boards.

I went from 2 1 gig modules -> 4 x 1 gig modules -> 2 4 gig Modules + 2 1 gig Modules and finally to 4 4 gig modules. Not one proble in transitioning up.
