Hello,
I'm having trouble getting an external HDD to connect to Windows 8.
Here's what happened:
-I purchased a Dell XPS 8500 with Windows 8 after the motherboard on my previous desktop crapped out.
-I took the hard drive out of my old PC (a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 that was in a Dell Inspiron) and put it in an external chassis.
-When I connect the chassis to the new computer running Windows 8, the computer won't recognize it. The drive starts fine. The PC makes the noise acknowledging that a USB device was connected, but that's it. The drive doesn't show up.
-I connected the drive to another desktop that's running Windows Vista, and it connected without any problem.
-I tried connecting to three different USB ports on the front of the machine, but that didn't change anything.
