Dell 760 USFF and Q6600

Hi

I've tried to run my Q6600 in my Optiplex 760 USFF but get the "processor incompatibility" error message when starting boot.

A number of posts seem to suggest that the Q6600 will work in the 760 so I was wondering if anyone knew if it should, and if so what I need to do. I'm running the latest bios (A11).

FYI, the Q6600 has worked flawlessly in my 745 USFF for over a year now.

The Q6600 is not supported.

..I know Dell don't support it - that's not to say it won't work (take my Q6600 in the Optiplex 745 USFF as an example).

Every now and again I read about someone saying they're running a 760 and Q6600 and I want to know if it's a typo or it's true.

Could be different BIOS, motherboards - Dell doesn't give specifics. All I can give you is what Dell says. Although someone could hack a BIOS and make it work I'm sure.
