Hello Guys,
here is what i am looking :powercolor radeon hd 4850.

i found that there are many radeon 4850 cards available out there from msi, amd, etc and it goes on.
This one is the cheapest hd4850 that i found.

So my question is should i go for other brands(ie.expensive).I don't see much of a diff except in the money and
i still don't understand why different brands are priced differently.I am doubting that whether the brand that i am considering uses
lower quality components for reducing the price. Is it so guys? Also if i am going to overclock, would a powercolor prevent me at higher frequencies?

i have another question also. What is the maximum power supply required for the hd4850,if i am considering to overclock?
Would a 500 w be enough?No sli or crossfire x considered.

i have these choices and i cannot make a decision:
Here are my choices from zebronics:
Kindly choose a good psu from these(=< 600w)
http://www.zebronics.net/Platinum_Powersupply.asp
http://www.zebronics.net/pro_power.asp

Or should i go for a cheap 500w psu from coolermaster.

Based in india.Limited by few choices.

thanks in advance...

the difference, based partial on factor over clocks, partially on warrenty, partially on the cooler if it's not reference, and brand name can carry a price tag.

So if the warrenty on the powercooler is good, and the cooler has gotten good reviews the by all means get it cheaper.

as for the power supplies i'm not really fimilar with this brand, so i don't want to makes a possibly misleading judgement on it

HD 4850 is a good choice (I say that because I own one). Check for the output ports. Some have 2 DVI and 1 S-Video, 2 DVI and 1 HDMI, while some have 1 DVI, 1 HDMI, 1 DP. You might want to buy one which suits ur needs. As for the PSU, I guess a 550W power supply should be more than enough (again I have a 550W PSU). I guess the price difference is because of the output ports. Not sure.

What about the 500w platinum series.

Or should i consider the coolermaster extreme power 500w

This has 2 dvi ports with a s video.
Also isn't 512mb enough?
My monitor supports vga and has resolution of 1360x768.

For starters, get the cheapest HD4850 you can get.a the cooler master would do just fine..just stay above the 450W line you should be fine..I have a ASUS hd4850 at stock clocks which runs fine in my 450W PSU which only has a 25A single 12V rail.....512MB is more than enough for your resolution! :sol:

What is the benefit of more rails if i use only one card.Pls see the platinum series,it provides all the amperage in single and so should i go for the pro.
The card uses a 6 pin pcie connector and the platinum series also has one.
Pls suggest one from the platinum also in case i can't get a pro series.

For 1360x768 with your setup, you will be able to maxed out almost every games... :D

then tell me how much those PSU cost?

For Platinum Series:
http://www.zebronics.net/m500w_platinum_powersupply1.asp
you only has 264W on 12V rail.

For Pro Series:
http://www.zebronics.net/pro_500.asp
You has 384W on 12V rail.

So you have more power on 12V rail with Pro Series...

If you can't get pro series then it's okay to get Platinum series, both series can handle HD4850. I suggesting pro series because they are more promising to me... :)

But the maximum wattage would be 200~220W right then why should i go for 600w.
I know more is better but running short on money someone pls give a good reason for getting a 600W.

Anyway if possible i would get 600w as all guys are recommending it or again i would have to wait some more time.

Thanks to all of you guys.Great help from all of you.

i think u should buy coolermaster extreme power plus 600 watt for rs.3500.i am using that to power hd 5850,q9550 stock,4gb ram,1 hdd and dvd rom and 3 fan.intel dg43nb board.and it works great.

Hi.thanks.
but now money is the only problem and not wattttttage..

you will be fine, either Pro/Platinum Series 500W Zebronics or 500W Coolermaster, they will run your card, i have HIS HD4850, just like yours.

For comparison, i use SilverStone ST50F 500W with (18+18) amperes on 12V rails.
The Pro Series 500W has (19+19) amperes on 12V rails, so that's enough to run a single HD4850.

Thank you guys,
So here is what i conclude.
A 380W (35A on max on single rail) / (two rails of nearly 18A to 20A) from any psu should work fine even if the psu has low efficiency.

Also won't i have atleast little headroom for overclocking with the above amperage because i have a phenom x4 BE and i am planning to OC my graphic card too.
