Recommended PSU for my RIG?

Forum CPU & Components : Power Supplies, Cases & Mods Recommended PSU for my RIG?

Word :    Username :

hi guys this is my 1st thread and i want to be sure about something..

this is my RIG:

CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 @3215x4
Ram: 4GB Kingston (800MHZ)
MB: Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2931#sp)
HDD: WD 1TB HDD
GPU: MSI GTX 470 (i got it new instead of 8800GT)
PSU: Gigabyte Superb 550P (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2794#sp)

my question is: is my rig will work fine on my PSU??...specially for my GPU??

It will work but i wouldn't plan on o'cing anything with your current psu.
Or adding more hungry accessories.
It should be called the Subpar instead of Superb.

thank you for your feedback...
am not quiet sure about my PSU cause i put another 320HDD and got some freezes and lags while explorering, suddenly after 15 mins of copying some data the 320HDD shutdown....is it cause of PSU? the lags freesing for 1 to 2 sec and the 320HDD shuttingdown? and if so...wt do u recommend me?

For the GTX470 i would recommend the Corsair VX550W. That would be good enough for it. If you are Oc'ing card or proccy then the TX650W would be good.

Do a check on the HDD. Maybe its dying. Also do you have any anti virus installed. If yes, which one?

-the 320HDD is for my friend and i dont think its dying cause he got it few months ago..
-no i did not have install any anti-virus yet
-Corsair is not available in my country which is JORDAN(MiddleEast)

What brands are available in Jordan? Let us know and we may pick one.

About the HDD, you can try it on some other PC and see if it causes the same problem. If its an external one, then do get it checked by a good anti-virus. It may be infected.

thanks for the replay...
-brands available are Gigabyte only i guess cause i have never seen anything else except those are made in china (fake brands) :S
-am using the 320HDD right now with Avira Premium Security Suite 10 updated and scanned and did not found any threats or problems....

am right now removing the GPU and testing the PSU...

If you read the link i provided it's evident your psu is underpowered.
The best thing for you to do is provide us a link to vendors you can purchase from.
In lieu of that Antec,Seasonic,Silverstone,Coolermaster,OZC,make good psu's.

Look at the Odin Plus and above. The Plus 600W would be sufficient.

The 700w Odin Plus is actually a good unit so the 600w should be similiar.

The best choice is the 800w PRO model but i realize it's overkill but the best offering nonetheless.

The 720 will work but keep in mind it only puts out 610w once again a sub-par performance.
However the 720 Superb will solve your current problems even if it isn't the best choice.
