ya looking for something that can run games like empire total war etc at max settings was looking at a build similar to that but with 5870 not realy sure what the difference is have a idea but really dont have alot of knowledge on them also dont need os was gonna steal it from a friend win 7

^ For strategic games, the HD 5850 would suffice, it is a very powerful card and can easily play those kind of games at High-Very High settings @1080p...
Here is a review of that card...See that it is able to push out about 51 FPS even for a graphic intensive game like Far Cry 2 @ 1920X1200 8xAA...
http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-5850-review-crossfire/11
And anyways you can add 1 more later on in Crossfire if you need more power as both the PSU and mobo are capable of that...

And forgot to mention...get a case fan for the front intake...

ya great build was wondering what other builds i could do im not very knowledgeable and have another day to decide just not sure what to do aka screen worth it with how old mine is etc what to have for the money any other tips or builds would be nice 2 see thank you also

^ As for the memory, Corsair is still one of the best and I would rate it a step above GSKillz...

Without the monitor, you can get an i5 750 build as well as i7 930 build for that budget...But frankly for gaming, the i7 is not required...though even the i5 750 is fine, but the X4 955 is better value...So decide yourself...
A build based on Intel i5
i5 750 + ASUS
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.434996

RAM - GSKIllz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231303

A better case...
Lian-Li K62 + XFX 750
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.440220

CPU Cooler for i5 - Scythe Mugen 2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185142

Rest same...

ya i read not much diff between i5 and i7 for gaming but that first build you showed me anything i can actualy upgrade that would be effective i plan on upgrading some of the stuff in the future but want the best i can get in some areas aqlso wanted to ask do you think that i5 build is better by alot for future upgrades or not much difference also with the gskills only diff i was told latency big difference in games? sorry for no spell correct at work have to type fast

^ Well the AM3 socket has better upgrade options IMO(6-Core CPUs and probably the first few CPU with the new "Bulldozer" architecture might work with AM3)...
But its your call though...Both i5 and Phenoms are very good so going with either is fine...

And also get the Case + PSU combo(Lian-Li + XFX) as the case is better than the 1 I suggested before...

As for the RAM, I dont think it would matter much and would be negligible in real world performance...
But anyways get the GSKillz as it would turn out to be cheaper with the coupon code...
