8gb ddr3 on board only 4gb showing

Hi guys well first of all i would like to apologise in advance, i've been tearing my hair out for a week to sort the issues out i have been having with my current pc.

I have 2 sticks of corsair DDR3 RAM, (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9-MODEL)
4GB each.

Ive downloaded CPU-Z and this is the information obtained.

* Im using windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64bit OS
* Motherboard is a ASUS M4A79T Deluxe AMD CHipset

Under general memory tab

DDR3 type ram, Dual Channel (As expected)
but only 4096mb showing also DC only stated Unganaged and not ganged
NB. Frequency @ 2006.8+/- Mhz

Under timings

DRAM Frequency @ 688.9Mhz
FSB:DRAM @3:10
CAS# Latency (CL) @ 9.0 Clocks
RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD) @ 9 clocks
RAS# Precharge (tRP) @ 9 clocks
Cycle Time (tRACS) @ 24 clocks
Bank Cycle Time (tRC) @34 clocks
Command Rate (CR) @ 1t

I have tried to place each ram in individual DDR3 Dimm slots, i have 2 orange coloured ones and 2 black at the moment there in A2 and B2.

even when i just try one stick the sticker on the ram states 4gb when installed only shows 2gb very frustrating.

If anybody could help that would be wonderful, btw all the setting in bios is set to default if that helps.

Ive already looked into that option and it wasnt even checked so i checked it t determine the default value and the max was 4gb, unchecked it and restarted and same value only 4gb.

i have 2x corsair ddr3 240pin installed should be a total of 8gb of mem but only 4gb showing 2x 2gb (2gb per stick)

in cpu z it shows slot 1 and 2 both 2 gb not 4gb like it should state

I'm not accusing you of anything but, If Davcon's work-around does not work then you may not really have 8Gb of memory - you may have 4. Pull the sticks and check the label. I've seen this happen before.

its defo 2x 4gb sticks corsair from scan.co.uk, i just dont knw if its anything t d with my bios settings, the latecy time settings ie clockspeeds, its the first time i have encuntered this problem, is there anything i can get info wise to give you guys and help in pointing out the problem

Put the stick in either the black or orange slots.

BIOS:
Load Defaults
Change back BIOS settings like AHCI, Fan Control, etc - less is more.
DRAM Frequency -> DDR3-1600 MHz ; assuming your CPU supports you didn't list
{If you want to set the CAS Manually, AI OC Tuner -> Manual}
CPU NB Voltage -> 1.25v~1.30v **
DRAM Voltage -> 1.65v~1.68v **

** Use the lowest first and add as needed, 9/10 this is a voltage issue.

Looking at my bios now and im on the ai tweaker sub menu, done as stated and got dram changed to 1600mhz, but when i go to change cpu/nb freq the lowest value is 800mhz amd ht link speeds lowest value is 200mhz

tried as you suggested, but n luck would you think i might need a new set of ddr3 ram or maybe a new motherboard ?

P.s ive tried all possible voltage settings for the ram and when i go to the maximum limit of your suggestion and reboot the system it just hangs and i have t forcefully reboot the pc and change the values.

This is really frustrating me too

You've lost me since the linked ram is 2x2gb modules not 2x4gb sticks as you originally posted.
So unless you have two kits equal to 8gb i have no idea what your're on about.

Your link says you have two 2 gig sticks of ram. If thats what you got for your system you have the exact amount of ram you should have. and your post proves that

You miss read when you bought the ram sorry but your ram is reading correctly. Its 4 gig total not 4 gigs per stick. I'm not even sure if that board could even read 4 gig sticks to begin with.
 

OMG you've got a bunch of stuff listed above...

My understanding is that you have 2 sticks of RAM period, if you have 4 sticks then 1 set in the orange and 1 set in the black. The size of orange 1 + black 1 {must} = orange 2 + black 2. DIMM_A1 + DIMM A2 = DIMM_B1 + DIMM_B2

Otherwise, try 'other' color slots. If orange fails then use black or visa versa. Increase the 'CPU NB Voltage' to 1.35v.

BIOS:
Load Defaults
Change back BIOS settings like AHCI, Fan Control, etc - less is more.
DRAM Frequency -> DDR3-1600 MHz ; assuming your CPU supports you didn't list
{If you want to set the CAS Manually, AI OC Tuner -> Manual}
CPU NB Voltage -> 1.30v~1.35v **
DRAM Voltage -> 1.65v~1.68v **

** Use the lowest first and add as needed, 9/10 this is a voltage issue.

If this fails then chances are your RAM is bad.
