Hi Guys and Gals, I have a problem with UT2004 demo... first my system
specs: Laptop:
Toshiba 2435
CPU: P4 2.4 Ghz
Ram: 512 Mb (DDR 2100)
HD: 40 GB (Reiser4 fs)
VC: Geforce4 Go 420

Software....
VC: Running the Nvidia 5336 drivers
Kernel: 2.6.5 ..
WM: Fluxbox
Distribution: not exactly... linux from scratch.. built from sources
with full optimazation flags (-O3 -march=pentium4 -pipe
fomit-frame-pointer).

For UT20004: I have all the settings cranked off. And when I start the
game I get about 30 to 35 fps... Very acceptable Stays like that for
2-3 minutes... then it drops to 20... and after another minute it
drops to 10 fps... It stays at 10 fps... but needless to say... I
can't play at that. I did a little test: I ran 'free -oms5' in the
background before launching the game. For those who don't know.. Free
shows the memory allocation... the option o removes a reduntant line,
m shows the memory in MB's (instead of bytes), and s is a timer... 5
seconds.. Like always, the game ran fine in the beginning.... and
slowly after 5 minutes the fps dropped again and game became very
laggy. I exited the game, and checked the log. It looked like 5 mb's
of memory got used up every log timestamp. Memory Leak? Not sure...
probably not... Anyway when the free mem reaches around 20 mb's then
that is where the fps drops... because the free mem didn't drop below
20.. it stayed there... Also another unusual thing is that swap is not
getting used at all... (not that it would be beneficial in this 3d
game)... I know for a fact that my swap works though. Could someone
give me a test to run... ... much appreciated Saad a.k.a SimFox3
