I have an MSI MS6533E motherboard. The on-board connectors for frontpanel connection only seem to work at USB 1,1 speeds, while the on-board back panel USB connectors work as USB2. The cabling seems to be USB 1 standard (4 wire ribbon, not shielded). The question is whether the motheboard USB front panel headers support USB2 or not

I have now re-cabled the front panel USB connections after cutting and rerouting tracks on the support board to isolate the signal ground from the shield/connector shroud. I used shielded cable with the shield connected to ground at the motherboard end and to the connector shell at the front panel end. The signal wires are twisted pair .4mm.
The front panel ports now work as USB2 without the warning "this device can work faster...". This is despite a reply from MSI on their forum that the front ports are only USB1.1!
Thanks for the comment.
