Hey all.

I was gonna build an NAS with RAID 1 and have some questions.

If I wanted to put together an NAS with with old parts (two new drives though) and wanted to use FreeNAS, how would I implement RAID 1?

Would any cheap RAID controller from Newegg work? The ones I've seen all say they support Windows, but that's it.

Am I barking up the wrong tree? I just want data security for my four PCs and files.

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks.

For RAID1 (mirror) with HDD up to 2TB then get this NAS
http://www.datoptic.com/2bay-nas.html

It's not a high performance NAS, but it will server as Media File Server, BT and ITune for home
Of course back up the entire house data

Or you can use FreeNAS with a MB at least TWO SATA port...
Use Software RAID include in FreeNAS configure TWO drives as mirror

Pretty straight forward - Note: freeNAS forum is great forum to get help with FreeNAS issue
and of course you can always post it here
