How to link laptop with desktop

Hello,
I have a laptop and desktop computer that I want to link wireless so I get files off the desktop

Install (if you haven't already) wireless adapters on the laptop and desktop and either use a wireless router to establish a connection between them, or make a direct wireless connection between them by placing each wireless adapter in adhoc mode.
