Dvd rom not detected

Hello,
my PC cannot detect my dvd rom, what might be the problem?

Verify that the data cable is properly installed to the ODD and the motherboard, and that the power lead to the ODD is properly connected. If the ODD is IDE, verify that the jumper settings match your configuration, e.g., Master or Slave - Master means the ODD should be connected to the IDE cable's connector furthest from the motherboard; Slave means it should be connected to the middle connector on the IDE cable.
