Removable hard drive in cdrom drive

Are there such things where you can use the cdrom drive space on a computer case as a hot swap for hard drives. For example, if i have a hard drive and want tos ee whats on it, instead of opening up the case and plugging the hard drive in, i could just pop it in the thing and boot the pc up to see whats on the drive.
