What can your motherboard handle

I have a Q5PL Pro motherboard and it currently has a 9600GT on it at the moment but I want a upgrade to preform better at running Bad Company 2. Does anyone know what my opinion are for GFX card upgrade?

A HD5770 would be well matched with you CPU at stock clocks but if you are into overclocking a HD5850 will do well. 550watt PSU should be fine for either.

How much does the HD5770 out spec my current 9600gt... and do I have the correct bay and connectors for this card?

In this link http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Zotac/GeForce_GTX_465/29.html you can see the performance difference between GT240 (~9600GT performance) and HD5770 in multiple games and resolutions. The HD5770 is about 2 x the power of 9600GT.
The card requires a PCIe-x16 slot and a 6 pin PCIexpress connector from the PSU which is probably the same as your 9600GT you should have both.
