Okay, the topic says it all. It started last night, I would be burning, when the cd was done and i tried to close the prog, my system rebooted. Just right now, I was typing something and it rebooted. Before that, I was reading through this forumn and someone Instant Messaged me via AIM, and bam, reboot. What is going on?!

Sounds like a bug in xp. I get the same thing. It'll reboot for no apparent reason. Gett'in pretty anoying. Some times it won't do it for a few days and other days it wont stop. I was going to post the same question but I thought I'd do some research first but I've found nothing but your post about the problem.

Perhaps you could try installing the unofficial WinXP SP1 update:

<A HREF="http://www.coreworldstech.com/fixes_and_patches/xpsp1.php" target="_new">http://www.coreworldstech.com/fixes_and_patches/xpsp1.php</A>

And here is a link to the Core Worlds Tech.com forums for XP; perhaps you'll find some information on the issue there.

I would think is that the problem is likely to be because of a driver that needs updated, if not because of some unknown freaky WinXP bug. Which driver? Your guess is as good as mine.

As for hardware ... also could be because of your memory, overheating problems, or the PSU.

A possible solution? Well, if it makes you crazy ... downgrade. Win2K is a much more mature OS, if you can tolerate the suggestion after spending the money on XP. Consider me to be one of those people who decided to stick with Win2K at least until the second edition of XP is released.

Good luck, and let us know if you discover the source of the problem.

Anyone else got something for these guys?

Had the same problem on a Win2k Box - Random Reboots...
Posted the problem, responce was HD was gettin ready to fail. But replacing the HD didn't stop it...

It kept happening randomly, so I kept lookin around.
I noticed a slight voltage fluctuation in Health status of the Bios... Hmmm... So I changed the power supply - It hasn't happened since!

It's a maybe?
