I have a desk top with I3-530 (FCLGA1156 socket) and want to upgrade with I7-870 (LGA1156 socket). Do you think the I7-870 CPU will work with the existing motherboard? (I mean by swapping the CPUs).

Depends on the motherboard. If it's an OEM (ie Dell,etc) motherboards I don't know. But if it's a good ASUS, Gigabyte,etc mainstream LGA1156 board then more than likely it will support that i7. Just curious, why the upgrade?
