hi,

just wondering is an HD 5670 will run ok on a 275W psu?

i have been told that it will be fine, scene as how it doesnt need any extra power connector and takes its power steaight from the pci-e slot.

thanks in advance

Changes are that it will work if the PSU has a strong +12 volt rail

It may work, but you'r pretty much asking for crashing problems. The 5670 doesn't have a 12v rail input I'm pretty sure. I would recommend at least 450 Watts, but 550Watts is the safe bet.

will it work? probably
how long will it work? that would be anyone's guess. With an OC i-7 system and an ATI 5670 the total watts in use was less then 250w.

that being said, rolli is correct in that a PSU with a strong 12v rail will last longer then a generic PSU running so close to peak power.

Can you open up your case and take a look inside for PSU sticker?
We need more info here... :)

Agree with rolli and ct1615, if you have a strong 12V rail then you have a good PSU.

Being a Dell increases the probability that it works, they tend to underrate their PSU's.
