Too much hardware. How do I better utilize my stuff??
I have 5 systems actually 10 (whos counting), but only 5 in question.
1 Windows Home Server
1 Game rig
1 Work rig
Game rig (no plans to change unless someone has a good idea for this)

HTPC and Server stay on all the time
Server needs high power PSU to power on all drives at same time 500w is not enough, trips overload
P150 case might have intermittent short in Front USB that causes system to hang
Or Gigabyte Motherboard might have problem that causes intermittent crash when using front panel USB (but I tested this with a back panel USB on each header and could not reproduce)
I would like to reduce my power consumption / heat in house
I am willing to buy and sell stuff
I am loth to put any more money into Socket 775 or DDR2 systems
I am using a lot of VMs for work
New version of Windows home server will offer on the fly transcoding for web viewing so it will need some power in 6 months, but how much?
I would consider consolidation of work and game rig, in a dual boot configuration
Work computer needs to have 4 monitor support, is used for games on occasion
I am totally stumped on the best allocation of resources, is the e8500 better then P2 940BE???

Do you absolutely require seperate gaming, work, download, print systems? I would think this could all be done on your most current rig. As for the server I suppose you could use the next best cpu/mb if the rest of the hardware is compatible. No comment on the media center system. I use my ps3 as my media center and as a console gamer... the system isn't useless. As for the rest of the hardware: I'm not one to keep outdated equipment that isn't being utilized.
you cant put TV tuners into the PS3 so that is out for media center
i could consolidate the work and play and printer, the idea of the printer system was to be able to turn off those systems and still print from a laptop. cant put the printer near the server due to space constraint,. and sever is headless so scanning wont work
download system is on a slow but unlimited bandwidth DSL and totally separate network so thats gotta stay. 300 to 400 gigs a month, uncool with most ISPs
