Hello,
is it possible to install a better graphics card to a notebook?

Depends on the make and model of the notebook. In most cases, the answer is no as the graphics solution is either an integrated chipset on the motherboard or it's hard soderred onto the motherboard.

Generally speaking, only premium models will give you the option to upgrade. I would guess a laptop that cost over $1,500 could potentially allow you to upgrade the video card.

You also need to realize that these upgrades will be expensive. For example, don't expect a mobile version of the HD 5850 (if there is one) to cost the same as the desktop version. Plus you need to find a place that sells mobile graphic upgrades.
