Do you have an SLI mobo?

Even SLIing the 9600 won't be enough to deal with most of the games @ that resolution.

My rig is also a c2q Q6600, 4GB RAM, 9600GT's in SLI'd on a 22" 1680x1050 monitor.
It is quite powerful. 9600GTs are way underrated.

another vote for sli if you can, it would only be like 90ish bucks, for performance around 5770 gtx 260 area, if you don't have sli 5770 all the way

5850 should not be a problem, 5870 might be a squeeze but should be fine. GTX470 is a no-no, Nvidia recommends 550W, the card consumes 215W on load opposed to the Radeon's 150W and 180W roughly. I would get the 5850, best price/performance card. You won't be disappointed.

ok but is the hd5850 good for 3x 1920x1080 res screens for all the high end games ? or would it be better to get the hd 5870 for futere proof??
June 5, 2010 2:02:27 PM

Well if you have 3 screens, then def go the 5870 way.

9600 O_O.......... ummm short answer is MABEY but probably no, you have another vote for 5770

i think you should get GTX280 its cheap as dirt now.. and it trumps 5770 in every single game. not to mention its futureproof compared to 5770.

and did i mention Nvidia drivers are better than ATI´s? newer games always run smoother on Nvidias cards

Can you back up the statement "cheap as dirt" with a link please?

i would also recommend 5850 if your your questioning your psu, i feel the 470 does have a good performance to price ratio but, that really only applies to people with at least 600+ watt psu, you definitely won't be disappointed with a 5850, when overclocked, it should be around 3ish times more powerful

2x 9600GTs SLied ~ 2x 3870s Xfired ~ 1x 4870 ~ 1x 5770

If his mobo can do SLi, get another 9600GT if he can find it for ~$60ish or less

I'd recommend ATI 5770 as a basis.

ATI 5850 @ 1920x1080 is where you'll see High Settings with AA and such turned on. :)

get a 5770 or 5850(if u have enough room in ur psu) both are good... and consumes less power and future proof cos of DX11..
btw which is ur PSU?

i recommend you choose the HD5770, Great performance.
