Nc4010 wifi.

Hello,I have an hp nc4010 and wish to insert a wifi card. I have tried an intel Pro 2200bg, and a broadcom 54g.The drivers have been downloaded but when the card is inserted I get an error message 104 stating the network card is not supported. What card will function on this unit?

Well, those nice people at HP have locked the BIOS so that it will only accept an HP branded card rather than one which is functionally identical but not HP.

I can't see the point of including an accessible standard interface like that if it is then crippled -- but HP have to pay for their pensions I guess.

Instead use a USB stick and vow not to buy HP again (though Dell aren't above dirty tricks like this either).
