Hi, My brother is going to give me an Intel I7-870 CPU. I plan to buy a computer that has I3-530 in it and then upgrade the computer by swapping the CPUS. My question is do you think it will work that way?
Thanks.

It should work as long as the BIOS supports the CPUs.

there are not many 1156 cpus so you will find that most if not all 1156 boards support all 1156 cpus, but yes it should work that way, just remember, the i3 is one of the easiest cpus on earth to cool, and the i7 is the fastest cpu brand currently available, so if the 870 is coming without a heatsink, you will have 2 go aftermarket

Thanks for your help. I will ask my cousin who has a decent knowledge about BIOS to check for me.
