just for kicks i looked at some 1366 motherboards. they are comparatively higher in price than 1356 socket boards.

how is the higher price justified?

just curious.

thanks for your time today!

Solution
The X58 boards have more PCIe lanes and support triple channel memory.

BTW, if you're looking to build today, both 1366 and 1156 are no longer recommended. Socket 1155 is the platform to go with these days.

ahh. it makes sense about the tri-channel memory. thank you.

my current computer is a dell with a 1366 socket, i7-920 cpu. the dell bios does not support overclocking, so i was curious in case i wish to build another with the save cpu.

i do hope to build a sandy bridge computer this year.

thanks for the response, rwpritchett!
